Headliner Repair

As a headliner begins to fail, it sags away from the interior roofline and eventually falls from the roof.

Repairs that last - generally involve replacing the entire headliner.

A headliner is a sound proofing and design material that is attached to the interior roof of cars, trucks and yachts. Headliners are made of multiple layers of material to provide differing functions like the finished look, soundproofing, and stiffness. The layers typically include a fabric bonded to a foam backing.

Heat, humidity, and time rapidly degrade the bond that the polyurethane foam has on the face fabric. As the foam oxidizes and yellows, the fabric-foam bond fails. This failure is more common in cars produced in the 1970s.

Replacing the entire headliner fabric is usually necessary as the oxidized foam can prove nearly impossible to remove from the sagging fabric.
